-
- What is Pic2Text?
-
-
- Pic2Text is a small (84K) program, which takes in an Iff graphic file
- (from Deluxe Paint, etc) and converts it into a series of pictures, made up
- of ASCII characters (which are saved out to the RAM disk, as Iff pictures.
-
- How do I use it?
-
- To load Pic2Text, simply double click on it's icon (or type: Pic2Text at
- a CLI prompt). The program will load. When the title screen appears,
- press any key (or click a mouse button) and a file requester will pop up,
- requesting a picture. This picture can be in any resolution, but must have
- a minimum size of 80*64 pixels, and no more than 32 colours. (please note
- that pictures drawn in medium resolution, or interlace will appear distorted,
- but those in Low resolution or high resolution will be fine.
- When the picture is loaded, you will be able to select the number of
- screens that will be rendered (indicated by the flashing box). Simply move
- the mouse, and when the right number are outlined, press a mouse button.
-
- Now what?
-
- Once the program has taken this initial input, it will begin to render
- the individual picures, and save each one to the RAM disk automatically,
- as follows:
-
- *********************************
- * * * * *
- * (0,0) * (1,0) * (2,0) * (3,0) *

- *********************************
- * * * * *
- * (0,3) * (1,3) * (2,3) * (3,3) *
- * * * * *
- *********************************
-
- To print out these pictures, simply load them into Deluxe Paint (or
- any other program that can print Iff images) and print from there.
-
-
- EXAMPLE PICTURES
-
- The Examples drawer, contains a selection of images for use with Pic2Text.
- Each picture's filename is made up of a description of the picture, and an
- indication of how many pages the final image will take up
-
- eg.
-
- Astron(4*4).pic
-
-
- is a picture of an astronaut, which will render to four pages across, by
- four down (a total of sixteen).
-
-
-
- Pic2Text was created in AMOS Profesional, and Compiled with the AMOS
- Compiler, on an AMIGA 500+, with 2MB, and two disk-drives.
-
-
- For those of you who can't wait to get going, here is an example (to give
- you an idea what to expect):

- To see the picture, stand a distance away from the monitor. Then (if the
- image is not yet clear) half-shut your eyes, and squint at the picture.
- (if you still can't see it, it is rendered from the Astron(1*1).pic picture.
